OUR SWEET CALIFORNIA ADVENTURE (Part 1) : Disneyland!

Hi everyone!
Hubby and I went to California this late April and stayed for happy ten days.

Just wanted share our super fun trip experience!
And hopefully this could give you ideas on places to go on your California trip as well.

Lemme start with few tips:

*Grabbing tickets
-Try to check online for better deals and/or packages.
-If you have someone in the military, then lucky you to avail great discounts!
Go to  MWR website.

*Plan ahead of time!Make a time table to meet all (as much as possible) of you family your friends there.
Set each an appointment to avoid over lapping.

*Browse online on places you wanted to go in order for you not to miss spectacular shows and upcoming events! Mark thy calendars! :)

So here we go! Unto our first stop...

Check their website for cool packages!
We opted to stay on our place and drive early in the morning for Disney!
It took us roughly an hour I believe.
But, if you have no relatives or friends nearby, choose to stay in the Disneyland hotel and resort or stay in some hotels nearby which I guess can save you few bucks hehe.
We went for two days although our tickets were 3-days park hopper.
How I wish we can go back here!
It feels so happy and magical!
It's a place were dreams do come true.
Imagination is limitless! And it seems like you feel so young again haha!

What to do when you need to take IELTS Exam in Philippines?

Hi everyone!

Today let me give you a brief discussion about IELTS here in the Philippines. I was fortunate enough to successfully meet all required scores at my first take last Feb 22, 2014 held at Crowne Plaza Hotel, Ortigas Avenue Center, Quezon City, Manila, Philippines. Please note that all tips written are solely based on my personal experience. This is just a quick guide of “must-knows” in taking IELTS examination.

Chinggus Reunited : YAKIMIX at ATC experience!

Early this month, I just met my good (well actually great) chinggus at Yakimix ATC! Weee!!!

We all went into the same college, same dorm during review of board exam and even became roommates when we had our first job experience after graduation in Quezon City. Imagine how close are we? Haha! But now, reunion was kinda hassle since we are not all coming from the South now and we sort of grew apart by profession. As much as we wanted to be together, reality wise, we separated ways to be successful in our own endeavors. Oh, by the way the word chinggu means friend. Pretty 'kewl right?

Neither of us have dined in here yet and so we wanted to try altogether...again? Eeew corny! Okay, so we arrived early in the afternoon for the dinner buffet. As usual ang walang kamatayang hintayan ng tropa ryt? Anyway we pretty much enjoyed chit-chatting and catching up with the latest among each other. Of course what's the latest on career, love and of course the current update among fellow batchmates and colleagues LOL! And when we were finally called to enter here's what we saw...

Simple ways to prolong the life of cut flowers

"Don't send me flowers when I'm dead. If you like me, send them while I'm alive. " ~Brian Clough

Needless to say, my boyfriend before and my husband now surely knows that. Why? Well, he is such a sweet guy who genuinely knows how to make me smile. Years ago, he even mentioned that we should have a big backyard because he wanted to grow roses or any flower of a kind so he can pick some every single day in the morning. Imagine how he still plans for that until now though I doubt if he can still manage to do that due to his work. Anyway, he's plan B is to be in charge of the kitchen every weekends so I can rest and he'll do the cooking instead. He is truly a sweet and loving person. See my post last Aug 2011 and 2012. And I do receive bouquets of flowers even before but the idea of taking care of them never entered my mind until he was the one who gave it. From then, I learned few tips which I wanted to share so you can also get to prolong the flowers from your significant other.

Get to read my craft and getting rid of some crap

Get a glimpse of my current beauty related stuff plus how it helps me to get over some sort of sadness, boredness or stress. No need to splurge! Seriously, you just have to simply do what you like whenever you feel sad. Do what makes you happy! Do what interests you most when you are bored. And avoid stressing yourself over simple matters.

Warning: This post is actually kinda random lol!

  1. Painting nail arts

Are you the type of a person that needs to walk in a salon in order for your nails to be done? Or you prefer to do it on your own? I am the latter type. For some reasons I enjoy spending time, no matter how busy I am, on doing my own nails. Just like how I feel whenever I play with my makeup or type here on my blog (exactly what I am doing right now haha). I always find pleasure in arts and beauty!
Do more what makes thy happy! :)

"Are you the easy-to-get,easy-to-forget type or the worth-waiting-marrying type? Make yourselves valuable ladies. It's you who create your own image. Self-respect is the answer."

‎"Never ever let your happiness depend on anyone else other than yourself, so that if in any situation you are caught alone and torn, it's gonna be painless. There's no one else that could understand yourself but only you. -stone hearted"

‎"Men are given strength to protect women and it doesn't mean you have the privilege to abuse or hurt them. Remember, the person who carried you for many months and experienced a lot of pain just for you to be alive now is a woman."

"Find a man who loves you not because your beautiful, sexy or hot because all of these could just change and go away.Look for someone who knows what is meant by commitment & responsibility;the difference between a relationship & a game.A man who is faithful indeed and knows how to love truly. And when you find him,it's like you found a needle in a haystack."

Being a blogger...

I just want to share my two cents on blogging...

I just started blogging on mid or last week(I'm not sure) of Aug 2011. Started with my passion for makeup and beauty-related stuffs until I fell in love with blogging and just share my thoughts on a particular product. Lemme do this in enumerated format, seems to be boring to read if it's all in paragraph right?!

Tips on Passing Nursing Licensure Examination

PREPARATION and STUDYING...
1. Study months before the NLE. Make sure you're well prepared. To avoid cramming to much, read at least one chapter or one concept a day. Read and read and read. Constant reading will enhance your memory. As you read make sure you understand every detail.
2. If you enrolled on a review center, don't rely too much on them. It helps so much if you still read other resources aside from what they are giving. If you believe too much when they say, "Mark this, it will be on the NLE." and other false reassurance  hence you'll feel more lax and focus only on memorizing what they said. Don't rely on "leakages", study everything, nobody knows what's the real content of the exam aside from the BON.
3. Know what is the specialty area of BON members, they are the ones who make the exam so most probably, they will include their areas of specialty.
4. Know proper techniques on answering questions and shading the answer sheet. Practice answering questions aside from studying lectures and reading books. Shade the entire box completely but not too hard and not too light. Use a good pencil and eraser. Time yourself while answering.
5. Have an ocular visit to the place or school you are assigned. Check if you could fit on the chairs especially if you're fat or too tall. This may also help to lessen the anxiety before exam.
6. Don't forget to pray so the Almighty One will guide you.
7. Have at least 1-2 days of relaxation before the exam date.

EXAMINATION DAY and  ANSWERING QUESTIONS...
1. Make sure you bring all the requirements, better to prepare them before the examination date itself. Don't be late. Follow general rules and proper attire.
2. Eat breakfast but skip eating heavy meals or drinking excessive liquids, you can't excuse yourself for comfort rooms while exam is going on.
3. Understand what the question is all about. Analyze what concept is being asked by the situation, most likely the answer must be under the same concept.
4. Most  questions are very tricky, they would include so many details in the question then just end up on a simple question which you can answer even without  reading the whole question. One of their technique to waste your time.
5. Sometimes, the right answer seems weird or funny so don't neglect considering choices like those.
6. If 2 of the choices are opposing each other, most likely the answer is just either one of them.
7. Consider the most specific choice if the question is asking for a particular answer while consider general choices when all of the other choices could be under that. "Umbrella technique".

AFTER EXAMINATION
1. Anxiety time and don't forget to pray.
2. Relax and pamper yourself. You need that after so much stress. School days are finally over!
3. Make use of your time properly while waiting for the examination result.
So far that's all I can say and GOODLUCK FUTURE NURSES! :)

Breast Cancer Advocacy with United Church of Christ in Makati City

Being an advocate of Breast Cancer is such a great honor...

Nowadays, most women are not concern about their breast.
OFTEN, PROPER BREAST CARE ARE NEGLECTED...
Let me ask you ladies several questions,
How much do you get to spend for a single bottle of lotion? for a facial wash? for a nail lacquer?
How much time do you spend to apply your makeup each day?
With BREAST SELF EXAMINATION (BSE), you need not to spend any penny.
Just spend few minutes every month to make sure that you are free from any possible palpable mass in your breasts. It doesn't require too much time and effort to check on your own breast.

This is what we, advocates of Philippine Foundation for Breast Care are educating the people, MEN AND WOMEN of both genders need to be aware of this. MEN CAN ALSO HAVE BREAST CANCER AND NOT ONLY WOMEN.

Breasts are not only there to add femininity and masculinity to our human body. They have purpose, especially to women who are breast feeding. They deserve proper care and diagnostic treatment if necessary. Annual mammogram for 40 years old and above and Ultrasound (UTZ) for younger ages.

The only way to prevent Breast Cancer is thru early detection.
However, please do remember this:
NOT ALL LUMPS ARE CANCEROUS.
If you notice a palpable lump or mass on breast while doing BSE, consult with your surgeon.
Anxiety and fear is common, but nothing is sure unless you'll have it seen and consulted properly. Should you wait for the mass to become worsen?

BREAST CARE is such an important matter that everyone needs to practice and eventually become a part of their lives. Moreover that Philippines is one of the leading countries with regards to morbidity and mortality of Breast Cancer.

If you want to know more about our foundation and our advocacy, feel free to comment below and it will be my pleasure to assist you. We need additional manpower and reliable resources to make a change on trend of Breast Cancer in the Philippines. We do Breast Cancer advocacy nationwide, if you're interested to have a Breast Cancer awareness in your place, please let me know as well. I'll lead you to our contact person in-charge for proper scheduling.

Here's the photos of our advocacy in Makati today:

Program Proper (Health Teaching/Discussion on Breast Cancer)
Ms. Malu V. Cortez, President of Philippine Foundation for Breast Care, Inc

After health teaching, we divided the participants into several groups for focus teaching.
I handled a group consisting of mothers, fathers, single ladies and gentlemen on proper BSE.

Our breast model
Left clear half represents breast during non-menstrual period while the
right brown half represents the breast during menstrual period.
Do you notice the differences of your breast during your  menstrual period? It feels more tender and firm right?
After the group workshop, we then proceeded to FREE BREAST SCREENING.

MY LOVE :)

(Originally posted on Aug 31, 2011 in a different blog host)

Years of friendship..turned to best friends..turned to lovers..hopefully to be husband and wife.. :)
While I'm making this blog, we are on our 2 years and 4 months already, including the 10 months of long distance relationship. His family moved to California while I'm left here in the Philippines. Yes it's hard but if you're both making the efforts to make relationship work, everything will be easier. Constant communication, faith and true love are needed to surpass the distance between us. I think I'm lucky to have him, he really makes effort to show me his love despite our current situation. Next good thing  about our relationship is that we started out as friends then best friends, so we can talk about anything to each other comfortably. He also likes what I like and seems like adapting each other's dialogue and actions LOL. Of course we also had some differences and some unwanted attitudes but we try hard to change them and constantly remind each other that it's not being helpful to our relationship. We still pray, eat and watch movies together even on skype ( Oh yes before I forget, thanks to latest technologies we could still talk to each other despite the time difference of almost 15-16 hours.)
I remember back on our high school days where we first met each other. I was always bullying him at the start LOL, we went on same high school then eventually became close to best friends but we went on different universities when were college. It was second year college when he started courting me,  he courted me for more or less a year. I'm not an easy-to-get type of girl. I want to prove if a guy is really worth answering. I'm glad I was right, he was my first boyfriend and I was his first girlfriend LOL. Oh, that also helped our relationship, we were like discovering our teenage years together, sort of growing up together I guess. It's more exciting for me that way, no one is left out on both of you. We shared a lot of good moments together. Our hobbies are watching movie and pigging out LOL. We earn fats together! LOL. But we still mind of healthy lifestyle that's why we went on to gym together. I also want to share with you that no matter how we do almost all things together, we still have time for our friends, it was also a good thing that "my friends turned out to be his friends, his friends became my friends", He helped me on our thesis, he's like a groupmate already LOL, and I help him on his school works too. You have to balance your time with your family, friends and special someone, even time for yourself. Oh, and we are both legal to our parents, I think because they can see that we are both responsible. And then suddenly he told me that they will leave the country because their visa was now approved. What did I do at that time? Of course cry,who would be happy to know that your loved one will leave soon. While we still have time to be together, we made sure to spend quality time with each other despite busy schedules. Oct 30, 2010 was the saddest day of my life. Fortunately I have my family and friend to support me. Hey, it's not yet the end of the world okay, I still have a life, rather than being messed up and cry, consider the positive aspect of the situation, these might just be a test for us. He is still alive, just a few miles away (I mean million miles away). We took this as a positive  challenge and the goal is to see each other again with achievements (We are on our young adulthood). He was one of my inspiration while taking my Nursing Licensure Exam which I passed (YEAH!). It was also so sweet of him to take Navy on US so that he could get citizenship easily and petition me as his fiance'. Hearing his plans which always includes me makes my heart smile. Aw okay I don't want to cry as I'm typing this blog. I'm going to leave you with some inspirational message that might be helpful in maintaining a good relationship even long distance. "Don't do to me the things that you don't like me to do to you. "- We always keep this on mind. No one knows who will you end up with, but you will always have the choice who is worth the chance :)
Here's some photos of us:)

Clara de Assisi in Katipunan and offer her eggs, Pink Sisters in Tagaytay, St. Jude Thaddeus in Trece during Thursdays, St. John Baptist De La Salle in UMC, St. Francis of Assisi in Dasma and take time to pray the rosary. JS PROM Hair & Makeup for the Best Friends

SEE THE ORIGINAL POST on my personal blog (http://jannahlopez.blogspot.com) dated Feb 8, 2012. :)
Holla!
Today I just had my first prom makeup gig...
I already did makeup for photo shoots, debuts and other special events but not Junior-Senior Prom until now.

Sai (a.k.a Cy from his name Cyrus), a batch mate of mine from De La Salle-Health Sciences Institute booked me to do her sister's hair and makeup for their school's JS Prom Night at  Makati Shangri-La, Manila this 8th of February 2012. Few days after he asked me if I can also do hair and makeup for Regine's friend, Patricia. I agreed cause I have no other scheduled appointment today. So gora lang ng gora mga beki (So just go, go gays!) Tagal kong nagisip ng english translation nyan, tama ba ?! LOL! ;p

Our call time was 1pm at 7eleven of Rosario, Laguna. We (Bryan came with me for help and  support aiyee!) arrived on time and Sai fetch us from there to their house. I immediately started to fix all the necessary things that I will be using on the table inside their well-lighted living room.

Days before, I already asked them what do they like for their hair and makeup to look like.Regine (Sai's beautiful sister) wanted a natural makeup with curly hair while Patricia (Regine's best friend) wanted a smokey eye look with a low up do. They have different picks but they wanted to have something in common which is a braid in the hair.

Here's some pics for you to have an idea how did the best friends come up after I did their hair and makeup...

MORE PHOTOS WILL BE POSTED...
My iPhone4's battery was drained (Useless gadget for me today! >.< ) so I wasn't able to take photos personally.
Will wait for my friend Sai to upload more LOL!
Hopefully including their before shots and hair styles.
Wait 'til you see Patricia's low flower up do.
THANKS MUCHIE SAI! :)

Regine after I did her hair and foundation

While I'm making sure that her neck is even to her face color.
Candid shot of the makeups. Thank you so much for this Sai!

Regine looks like a Korean actress!
Candid!

Patricia (most left wearing purple gown) :)
Defined her brows, and her purple smokey eye. :)

I love how I made her brows bolder for a more natural look, contoured her nose and cheeks too! :)

Hopefully they had a great time on dancing at their JS Prom tonight.
It's fulfilling to know that their moms was satisfied and liked my job.

I remember my JS Prom years and years ago...(reminiscing time for the aged LOL!)
Infairness, nominated ang lola nyo noon! Charos di naman nanalo LOL!

Thank you so much to Regine and Patricia for entrusting their JS Prom look on my hands.
And specially to Sai, and their mom's who hired me.
Also to Bryan for accompanying me and helping me on this day. Thanks for the unending support bhe! :*

After Laguna, we went to SM Dasma to eat dinner and went straight home to rest for the nextgora day! :)

Care to share how was your JS Prom look before?
My makeup was a dark smokey blue eyeshadow with a light peachy pink lipstick then my hair was up.
I wore a blueish-purple ball gown (LOL, uso yan nung time ko friend, now di na e) with matching gloves pa ang lola mo, arte lang! Haha! and Silver Heels, cause my gowns was beaded with silvers. I think mala Cinderella drama ni mamsy(mother/mom) before. She actually made up the theme for me but we are really required by our school to wear blue. Blue for the Seniors and Pink for Juniors (Corny right? If there was no mandatory color  I think I'd wear either white or purple). I hope I can find an old picture of mine. It was posted on my Friendster before but cmon' FS, why did you disappear on this face of the earth. jk! :p

THANK YOU FOR READING MY TODAY"S BLOG!
I had so much fun doing my first Prom makeup gig! :)
